Be a PG&E electricity customer.
Have an eligible device connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
Use your smart thermostat to control eligible home equipment.
Not be a participant in another PG&E energy incentive program or with another smart thermostat energy management provider.

Enrollment

If you already own an eligible smart thermostat, you're ready to apply to the SmartFlex Rewards Program. Here is how the enrollment process works:
Click Enroll and select the brand of thermostat you wish to enroll.
Log in to your smart thermostat's app and authorize your thermostat to participate in the SmartFlex Rewards Program. Each device manufacturer's authorization process varies slightly, but our enrollment process will guide you based on the device you choose to authorize.
Ensure you provide the PG&E account holder's full name and service address to verify your account. If we cannot match your name and address with your PG&E account, you will not be accepted into SmartFlex Rewards Program.
Submit your application. You will receive an email welcoming you to the program (or letting you know you are ineligible and why) within 3 to 5 business days.

You'll receive this enrollment reward within two weeks of being accepted into the program. Please note: check your spam folder if you don’t see your reward in your inbox.
If you don't have a smart thermostat, you can get up to $120 off an eligible smart thermostat if you apply for the SmartFlex Rewards Program through SmartFlex Marketplace as you purchase one. Please note: you must install your thermostat to keep your discount.
You will also be entered in a series of drawings for prizes of varying value, up to $500, if you are still enrolled at the time of the drawing.

What’s the difference between the SmartFlex Rewards Program and Nest Rush Hour Rewards?
If you have a Google Nest thermostat, you may see communications and alerts that refer to Nest Rush Hour Rewards (RHR). This is Nest's name for programs that work with your smart thermostat to reduce energy use during peak hours. On Nest thermostats, Rush Hour Rewards and the SmartFlex Rewards Program are not separate programs — they work together. Essentially, being a member of RHR is the same as being enrolled in the SmartFlex Rewards Program.
When you first sign up for the SmartFlex Rewards Program, you will also complete a Nest Rush Hour Rewards enrollment on the Nest app or website. After you sign up for RHR and create your thermostat settings, Nest works together with the SmartFlex Rewards Program behind the scenes, using your preferences to keep you comfortable during SmartFlex Events.
